Keep your eyes on Jesus

I thought we had wonderful services yesterday at church. We had a special speaker, Sujo John. He is a survivor from the attacks on the world trade centers. On the morning of 911 he had emailed his friend asking for prayer because he felt burdened and that he felt like God wanted him to do more with his life. 40 minutes later the first plane struck 5 floors above him. He was in one the buildings when it collapsed, many people around him dead, but he was still alive and followed an ambulance light in order to find his way out. What an incredible story. Now he is giving his life to evangelism, going around the world to tell people about Jesus.

Something he said in the morning service was that, now 8 years later so many of us have forgotten about that day. Well we remember but it is in the back burner of our minds, but how easy it is to forget. But, he went on to say that is not the only thing we have forgotten, we often forget what Christ has done for us on the cross and we loose sight of that.
For the friends and family members that lost someone that day, I am sure it is much harder for them to forget. They are still living with a great loss. I didn't know anyone that died that day, but still wanted to take time to give those families a little tribute today. Especially to all the firemen and other officers that gave their lives that day for dying trying to save another's life.
Last night, his sermon deeply challenged me. He talked about a security guard that he helped with a computer program. From that the two become acquaintances. He said when he got to the bottom of that building he saw that security guard across that way helping people to get out and the guy told him he needed to get out. A few days the Lord showed him that man was lost. He became broken that he fixed his computer problem but he never showed him how he could fix the biggest need in his life. How many lost people do each of us come in contact with every day and never share the good news of the gospel with them.?

Last night he read, Acts 4:13 "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus." People should be able to tell that we have been with Jesus. He challenged us to be the hands of Jesus to touch the lives of the people around us. Also, to have the eyes like Jesus, to see people how He sees people. To Jesus it doesn't matter if someone has a disease or if they are living in adultery. It truly challenged me to have hands and eyes like Jesus and that is my prayer today.
